Committed to making Great Wakering a better place for all of us

A concerned and committed parishioner, seeking changes for the better in the village

Let me represent you as a truly independent free thinking and proactive Parish Councillor!

My name is Phil Hitchman and some of you will already know me as a Trustee of the Friends of Wakering Common.

I will be standing as a Parish Councillor in the Parish election for the Great Wakering West Ward on Thursday 21st June 2018.

I have been involved with the Parish Council through my various activities for a good number of years and I have recently been attending more and more of their meetings. And I have to say that I am becoming more and more frustrated with the endless rules, procedures and red tape that do nothing to help this village and slow down and constrain our councillors - some of whom do a very good job.

So, when a recent vacancy arose, having strong project and business management experience I decided to put myself forward for the job. Please consider voting for me, but whatever you do, please vote!

These elections are important to the village and we need good councillors representing us who are willing to stand up to bureaucrats and who are committed to looking after the best interests of the village.

My pledges to you...

To serve the Parish to the best of my ability. I will always try to do what I think is best for the village but ultimately it is not my decision - I will be fighting for the residents' wishes!
I will not take any personal allowances or payments. My Councillor's allowance will be donated back into village funds and charities as I see fit.
I will aim to improve communications between the Parish Council and the parishioners.
I do NOT have ANY political affiliations. My views are my own, and I do not have a party line to tow. I will listen to the villagers concerns and vote for what I feel is best for everyone.
